My Emerging Techology class

This is one of the most interesting classes I've taken, because everything is so new to me, but are things that I've been wanting to learn.
We actually looked for new technologies and informed each other in the classroom. The most interesting one to me was the digital coffee table.

After attending the third session of this class, I already feel I can connect to the new world better. There is so much out there to get engaged to and improve; get quick answers, call many at the same time, working on a shared document online, etc. Seems like everyday some new technology pops up. Am I going to actually use all of them? who knows. Some of them for sure. At this point I just want to get ahead of my teenage son who thinks he knows everything!

We read Marc Presky's article, Digital Native Digital immigrants last week. It is a very interesting article. As soon as you read it, you'd know which category you belong to! I would recommend this article to all educators and anybody with children in general. It's pretty thought provoking.

We also learned about twitter! It's a great way of being in touch with people, at you convenience! You want to tell your friends or family what you're doing at the moment without calling them on the phone, you twitter! You have a quick question to ask, you twitter. Somebody usually gives you an answer. I need to learn how to use it via my cell phone. It's better to have the unlimited text deal on your cell phone if you want to use the twitter.

Another fabulous tool to learn and share is the slideshare. A short and sweet presentation I found is called: work: The next generarion
In slideshare you may view people's presentations about different things and you may also post your own presentation for others to view! This would be a nice inexpensive tool to learn and enjoy different presentations instead of physically attending there.

This week we are discussing and brain storming about creating a learning environment using variety of tools we have learned so far. We need to figure out how to prepare for that. We have the opportunity of creating a distributed learning environment! I don't think any of us in the class has been in a situation like this before. Up to now we just talked the talk. Now we have to walk the walk, and I feel so overwhelmed! I don't know where to start exactly and what is the first thing to do. Should we assign each individual to be an expert on a particular subject to teach others, or should we find a subject and then let everybody go after it and share it.
It will get more clear after the next class.
